Split tunneling (Android)

Route some apps through the VPN and others through your normal connection.

Split tunnelling lets you decide per app whether traffic goes through the VPN or your regular connection. It's an Android-only feature today — iOS doesn't expose the necessary APIs to third-party VPN apps.

Why use it

  • Keep your bank's app on your home IP so fraud detection doesn't flip out.
  • Stream local TV from your real region while everything else routes through the VPN.
  • Send a high-bandwidth game directly so latency stays low, while a torrent goes through the tunnel.

How to set it up

  1. Open SecureFox → Settings → Split tunneling.
  2. Choose a mode: Allow listed (only listed apps go through the VPN) or Disallow listed (listed apps bypass the VPN, the rest go through it).
  3. Tap the apps you want in the list. Changes apply on the next connection.
